Essex Open Maroon U9s 8–7 Essex Open U10 Blues

What a fantastic effort from our young Maroon U9s, who secured a brilliant 8–7 victory against Essex Open U10 Blues!

With only seven players available, the girls knew they had a tough match ahead, but they showed great determination and teamwork from the very first whistle.

The U9s started strongly, taking a 2–1 lead after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 6–3 by half-time.

The third quarter saw some excellent defensive play, with interceptions coming from several of the girls. Unfortunately, our WA took a fall and had to leave the court for treatment, leaving us with just six players. Despite this setback, the girls battled on and finished the quarter 7–4 ahead.

By the final quarter, tired legs were beginning to show, with a few missed shooting opportunities. The U10 Blues fought back strongly and won the final quarter, but our U9s dug deep and held on for a well-deserved 8–7 victory!

For such a young team playing only their third league match of the season, there were so many positives to take away. Fantastic interceptions, great teamwork and determination from every single player!
