Defeat for U12 Maroons

Essex Open U12 Maroons vs Manor Met White

On Saturday 25th October at 9:30am, Essex Open Maroons played against Manor Met White in a really exciting and competitive match. It was a close game, but in the end Manor Met won 19–15. Even though we didn’t get the win, we were proud of how we played and how we kept trying until the end.

The first quarter didn’t go our way, and that’s what really cost us overall. After that, we were evenly matched right up until the final quarter. It was very tense when the score was even, and I really thought we might win. Unfortunately, Manor Met managed to pull ahead with a four-goal lead near the end.

There were some great moments when the game flowed well down the court to our shooters, and we battled hard in defence to win the ball back. However, we need to work on our passing and ball placement to make sure the ball moves more smoothly. We also need to practise hitting the ball back onto court when it’s rolling off, instead of running to it and trying to pick it up.

Manor Met were a good team. Their shooting was accurate and they moved the ball quickly down the court. Even though they were two years older than us, we put in a strong effort and challenged ourselves. Losing to a team like that isn’t shameful, and there were lots of positives to take from the game.

It was a tough match, but we showed good teamwork and determination. We will take what we learned and make the next match a win!
