The U16 regional team got a comfortable win under their belt to start the season against a strong Telstars side.  Despite not having played together since the qualifying round in July, the team started strong finding themselves in the lead after just a few minutes.  Telstars soon settled and fought back, eliminating our 5 turnovers with 5 unforced errors.  The quarter finished 10-9 to Essex.  Changes were made to the attack which worked well in the opening second quarter, but again, too many errors found us going goal for goal, drawing the 2nd quarter 11-11.  Instructions were given, changes were made, which resulted in a 13-8 win in quarter 3, with the defensive duo of Divine and Eni, turning over ball and Ava-Marie and Evie B bringing the ball down to circle edge for the composed Amelie and Trish to convert.  The team managed to stretch out the lead and finish the game 45-34 with all 10 players making it onto the court.
