Essex Open U13s 26 – 21 Fusion Falcons

In the opening quarter Fusion headed out in front at a fast pace and we were down 4-1 within a few minutes. This didn’t rattle us and we soon made some great turnovers of our own. Mid-court came through strong on the attack and gave our circle some lovely ball placement which was converted by a shooting accuracy of 100%. By the end of the first quarter we led 9 goals to 5.

2nd quarter Fusion fought hard to bring the scoreline even with a big momentum shift and some quick turnovers. This upset our play and we started to make errors in our connections like hesitating before passing and not waiting for the change. This saw us behind 12-13.

Coming into quarter 3 shooters needed to focus on their rotation and timing and defence needed to be tighter. We battled it out for a few minutes with some rallying back and forth, each team turning over without a goal and then finally we were able to score and continued to push on 18-15 to us.

The last quarter went really smoothly and we stayed in front. WA had great movement and the final ball she gave to GS to score before the whistle was an excellent example of playing it forward quickly. Defence stayed tight on, great arms from GK and fast chasing from GD. Our four shooters combined shooting stat was an impressive 84.6%. We won the game 26-21.
