EO 12 – 30 POOLE
Today we played the second round of ENG against the top of the table Poole side.
They are a team full of talented and experienced players that have been together a long time at the top level. We were without some of our squad because of the school holidays, but we were excited to show what we could do. Bisi gave us some instructions and to go onto the court and work hard. Poole started very strong scoring more than ten in the first quarter, putting us in a hard position to recover from. In defence we made too many unforced errors, and gave them too many opportunities to score. Poole know howljlllpkkhc important it is to start hard and score heavily early, and we can’t waste any game time when we get on the court.
In the first break, we were not scoring quickly enough, and taking all of our chances, and we went into the first break 7 behind. Bisi made some tactical changes, and we started to get back into the game in quarter 2 and 3 by creating some defensive pressure, cutting out the unforced errors and taking some great chances. Poole were scoring much slower than before, but we couldn’t get red of the damage done early in the game.
In the final quarter we really turned on the fight and aggression that we are known for, but Poole were too good. Their experience in big games let them keep their heads and not be overwhelmed by the way we were playing. We will hopefully have a chance to get our revenge later in the season.
